Our Foucault photograph in front of Twin Towers

In 2007 Stuart Elden and I published our book on Foucault and geography, Space, Knowledge and Power. On the cover is a remarkable photograph that Stuart had found in Michel Foucault: Une histoire de la vérité (Paris: Syros, 1985). This shows Foucault captured in front of the Twin Towers in New York City, probably in late 1970 or early 1971.

It is striking to compare this picture to the remarkable gallery that the New York Times placed online today, showing the rise and fall of the Towers. See for example this shot, taken in October 1970.
